Qualifications and Experience of Attorney Stephen Eckdish
I am both a U.S. Immigration and California State & Federal Criminal Defense Attorney. These are some important facts that you should know about my qualifications and experience. Since 1980, I have been a duly licensed attorney in good standing with the California State Bar and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. I have successfully represented thousands of clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area many of who were non-citizens. I have been appointed by the San Francisco Superior Court as an expert in legal issues involving competency of counsel in criminal and immigration law. Avvo, an independent, nationwide attorney evaluation and ranking service, has recognized and rated me for “Excellence” as an active immigration and criminal defense attorney.
On a number of occasions, I have lectured at Golden Gate University School of Law located in San Francisco on immigration and criminal defense and competency of counsel legal issues relative to those practice areas.
I have also been a guest lecturer for the Criminal Defense Bar of the San Francisco Bar Association to section members in their criminal defense practices concerning competency of criminal defense counsel involving immigration law issues.
Criminal defense and immigration defense attorneys throughout California frequently consult with me concerning legal issues that arise in their criminal and immigration defense practices. Regularly filing criminal court motions to vacate and motions to modify criminal convictions, is a featured part of my defense practice in the California Superior Courts throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
My expertise has been developed over 30 years of practice during which I have obtained post conviction relief for many of my clients in the California criminal courts. Emphasis is given to representation in the immigration courts of non-citizens who are facing removal (deportation) or exclusion from the U.S.
I emphasize defending non-citizens who are ordered into removal proceedings in the Immigration Courts because of their criminal convictions. Obtaining orders from Immigration Judges to terminate (dismiss) removal cases based upon post conviction relief work that I have successfully obtained in the California State Superior Criminal Courts, is also a priority in my defense practice.
Another important component of my practice is obtaining lawful permanent residency (‘Green Cards’) and U.S. citizenship through the naturalization process for my clients. If you are seeking a skilled, experienced, and competent immigrant and criminal defense attorney, then please give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you.
